WILL SUPREMES LEGALIZE SODOMY?
Landmark “Gay” Rights Case Will Be Heard TODAY!
Do not defile yourselves [with homosexuality & other perverse sexual
practices], because this is how the nations that I am going to drive
out before you became defiled… (Lev 18:22-26).
The U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments over Lawrence v. Texas
this morning, March 26, 2003. This landmark case could result in the
imposition of homosexual rights upon the states in the same way that
Roe v. Wade imposed abortion rights upon them in 1973. The justices
will consider the oral arguments and issue their ruling this summer.
--In 1998 Houston police, responding to a call about a dangerous
gunman, burst into an apartment only to find two men engaged in a
homosexual act. They were charged with violating a Texas law outlawing
homosexual conduct, confined overnight and fined $200. They appealed
their case, charging that the law was unconstitutional.
--The arguments presented today will deal with whether the Texas
sodomy law violates the U.S. Constitution and the equal protection
and privacy rights of homosexuals.
--Opponents say that the “right to privacy” is among the “most
fundamental of rights guaranteed in the Constitution”.
--Every state had anti-sodomy laws just a few years ago. Now,
twenty-six states and the District of Columbia have repealed their
laws and nine states have had their laws stricken down by the courts.
Sixteen states and Puerto Rico still have sodomy laws in force.
--This important case has been overlooked or underestimated by most
Christians. Not only could it strike down every sodomy law that
remains in America. It could pave the way for homosexual marriage
in every state.
Through prayer, we must now succeed in obtaining God’s intervention
lest Roe v. Wade and Lawrence v. Texas be remembered as the decisions
that precipitated America’s final destruction.
While the Iraq war is on everyone’s mind, but we must make this a
matter for prayer, too. Please forward this to all your praying
Christian friends. Ask them to join us in prayer.
